Bus Drivers, Select Students Head Back To School Today

Posted

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– The first day of school for Fayette County isn’t until Wednesday, but a few individuals are getting an early start.

Bus drivers are heading in around 6 a.m. Monday morning to go through a practice run of their routes. They’ll start heading out around 6:30 a.m.

The first group of juniors and seniors at STEAM academy will report to the Bluegrass Community and Technical College’s Cooper Campus for duel credit classes.

On top of taking classes there, the students will also be involved in internships on the University of Kentucky campus, and throughout the Lexington community.

And if your child still needs a haircut for the first day, the "Cutz and Curlz" event is also happening today.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, students grades K through 12 can get a free haircut at the Success Academy on Georgetown Road.

More than a dozen barbers and hair stylists will be there to make sure students are looking good for the new school year.
