RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) – An inmate intentionally injured himself in order to obtain contraband before heading back to jail, jailers tell LEX 18.
According to a press release, deputies at the Madison County Detention Center stopped the exchange. Officials say the inmate hurt himself in order to be taken to the hospital.
While there, Captain Russell Lane set up surveillance in the area of the suspected exchange and watched a woman place contraband on the jail vehicle.
The woman was immediately taken into custody. Mary Hall was charged with promoting contraband and trafficking.
The driver of the vehicle that dropped Hall off, Amanda Deckert, was also charged with promoting contraband, trafficking a controlled substance and two counts of possession of a controlled substance.
