LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Lexington police have charged a man with stealing from multiple vehicles in the downtown area.

Travis Asher, 26, was arrested late last week and charged with four counts of theft from a vehicle, one count of theft of a controlled substance, and two counts of drug possession.

Surveillance video helped identify Asher as a suspect, and he was found in possession of multiple items that had been reported stolen from car break-ins, including a victim’s social security card and another victim’s prescription medication. The evidence connected Asher with thefts that had occurred on Virginia Avenue, Mill, Upper and Short streets.

The investigation is ongoing. Lexington police want to remind residents to never leave valuables inside a vehicle and to double-check that the vehicle is locked.
