ESTILL COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) The Estill County High School girls and boys soccer coach who was placed on leave after an allegation he sent players sexually explicit photos will be in court.
Andrew Hatton was put on leave Monday as KSP and school officials investigated, according to the Estill County Schools Superintendent Jeff Saylor. He was arrested Tuesday and charged with five counts of third-degree rape, two counts of prohibited use of electronic communication system to procure a minor, two counts of possession/viewing matter portraying sexual performance by a minor, and three counts of distribution of obscene matter to minors.
Monday, a relative of the teenager told LEX 18 that Hatton had sent pornographic photos of himself to the teen over Snapchat.
According to the arrest citation, a juvenile at Estill County High reported receiving multiple messages and several nude pictures from Hatton. The juvenile explained that he’d befriended her on Snapchat and they communicated on the social media platform. She stated that on multiple occasions, Hatton sent her nude pictures of himself, including several images that revealed his genitals. The juvenile claimed he asked her to send pictures of her nude body multiple times. She also mentioned Hatton would engage in "conversation containing sexual content throughout their communication on Snapchat".
She said that she only shared information about Hatton’s actions with two of her close friends at school.
The arrest citation also said that a second juvenile at the Estill County High came forward and reported similar actions by Hatton, but she said that they had sexual intercourse as many as five separate times. She also shared details about the situation with two of her close friends. She saved multiple nude images she’d received from Hatton on Snapchat.
Both juveniles also reported receiving a video of Hatton’s nude body and genitals through Snapchat, according to the arrest citation. Both girls are members of the Estill County High School girls soccer team.
