LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– City residents are getting their chance to weigh in on the proposal to move city hall.

The county council heard public comments Tuesday night about the proposed move to the old Herald Leader building on Midland Avenue.

The plan includes major renovations, including a police station and parking garage.

People who support the plan urged the council to move forward, saying the new site would be convenient and transformative to the city.

Others opposed to the idea say they worry about gentrification on the east end, along with what will happen to downtown when city hall moves.
