LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Laurel County Sheriff’s deputy was being checked for possible fentanyl exposure after the deadly narcotic was discovered in his cruiser.

The Laurel County Sheriff’s Office tells LEX 18 that the fentanyl found in the cruiser likely was left by suspect from an earlier arrest.

The deputy found it on a later call on Golden Eagle in London.

The substance was tested on site and decontamination followed.

Officials said the deputy was being checked for possible exposure but was expected to be OK.
