LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– The day is here! Lexington kids will grab their backpacks and lunch boxes and head out to their first day of school.

The start of the school year means things will be busy around the city.

We’ll be seeing a lot more yellow on the roadways in the coming weeks, as dozens of school buses hit the streets in the mornings and afternoons.

This year, Fayette County Public Schools has added a special new element for bus riders. They’ve turned their buses into rolling libraries.

Inside every bus students will find pouches that hold a variety of reading materials.

Wednesday morning, almost 200 volunteers will be hopping on buses around the city and reading with elementary students on their trips to school.

Also happening Wednesday, move-in day is starting at 9:30 a.m.for UK students.

If you don’t have to be near campus, you should try to avoid that area.
