BATH COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)– A former middle school social studies teacher has pleaded guilty to charges related to the sexual abuse of a 15-year-old girl.

Darvin Andrew Crouch pleaded guilty to 8 counts of sexual abuse. Two charges of sodomy and raper were amended and dismissed.

In 2017, the grandmother of the victim called the police to report that Crouch was involved with her grandchild. Another family member had a video of a conversation between Crouch and the juvenile.

Police say that in the video they observed Crouch rub the juvenile’s arm and hold her hand. He was also cited as confessing his love to the young girl and saying that he planned on marrying her when she turned 18.

Crouch will be sentenced to at least five years in prison, will lose his teaching license and will be required to register as a life-long sex offender.

He will remain free with an ankle monitor until his October 25 sentencing.
