LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – A middle school music teacher with Fayette County Public Schools has pleaded not guilty to an added charge of sexual abuse.

Thomas Steuart pleaded not guilty in a Fayette County courtroom.

The most recent charge follows the news of his arrest Wednesday. That arrest warrant states that the victim and other juveniles would go to Steuart’s home to go swimming and watch movies. The victim said that while watching a movie at Steuart’s house, he was inappropriately touched by Steuart.

The abuse happened between 2015 and 2017, according to the criminal complaint.  Another charge of sexual abuse was filed Thursday.

Steuart is the middle school choir director at Winburn Middle and is also a part-time instructor at Georgetown College. He has been suspended from the college pending further investigation.

Thomas entered a not guilty plea on the newest charge of sexual abuse. He had already pleaded not guilty to the previously filed charges during an arraignment Wednesday.

The terms of bond from his first charges are still in place despite the additional charge. Steuart is out of jail with an ankle monitor. His preliminary hearing will be Sept 7.
