LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– The man convicted of killing Kieara Green in 2014 is due in court Friday for sentencing.
Allen Burgess was part of a group that barged into a home on Scottsdale Drive and started shooting, killing Green in the open fire.
Burgess will likely face a lesser punishment than Green’s mother expected, due to a plea deal.
Early last month, prosecutors explained that due to the lack of witnesses Burgess would not receive a trial.
Rather he would enter an Alford plea to lesser charges likely 5 years.
Green’s mother Dinah Walker said she had no warning a deal was being made.
"I was blindsided. I was so baffled. I was beyond myself. I want a trial for my daughter and I think I deserve to have a trial for my daughter."
Burgess’ sentencing is set for 8:30 a.m. in Fayette County.
