LAUREL COUNTY, Ky (LEX 18) The non-profit charity, The Backpack Club, announced on Facebook that they are shutting down all operations due to a lack of funding and volunteers.
The Backpack Club has been around in Laurel County for 14 years.
Their mission was to pack backpacks with non-perishable food items in them for needy kids.
Children could then pick up the backpacks every Friday at school before going home for the weekend.
