GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18)- A Garrard County man is accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend.

According to a post by police, Christopher Fleming was arrested Friday night. He’s accused of punching his pregnant girlfriend while holding a gun next to her while she drove down Cartersville Road. During that ride, police say Fleming also fired shots out the window and threatened her.

As they were driving, police say he grabbed the wheel and jerked it causing the vehicle to plunge down a 30-foot embankment. The victim managed to run away but as she fled, Fleming allegedly fired two more shots.

A police officer was able to catch Fleming about a half mile from the wreck where he admitted to being intoxicated. Fleming is charged with seven counts including wanton endangerment, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal mischief, unlawful imprisonment, wanton endangerment 2nd (for the unborn child), assault and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
