HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. (The News Enterprise/KNPS)– A Radcliff woman has died following an alleged sexual and physical assault.

38-year-old Christina Howard died after spending several days in critical condition on life support, the deputy coroner said Tuesday.

Officials say the assault happened the morning of Aug. 12 at the home of Howard’s ex-boyfriend in Parkside Manor Mobile Home Park.

In an interview with police, 32-year-old Daniel Dewayne Simpson said he and Howard had a prior sexual relationship, and had sex while they were together Aug. 11 or early the next morning.

Police noted in the arrest citation that once at the hospital, Howard began to develop bruising around her neck, arms, and buttocks. They went on to say the bruising around her neck was “consistent with injuries caused by a strangulation.”

Simpson was arrested Aug. 13 and charged with first-degree sodomy and first-degree assault. It is unclear whether those charges will be upgraded.

He is being housed in the Hardin County Detention Center on a $100,000 cash bond.

Simpson is scheduled to appear Friday in Hardin District Court.
