LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – All summer long True Blue fans have been looking forward to watching the Cats in action on the Gridiron.

Some early afternoon rain didn’t stop faithful tailgaters from celebrating the kick off to football season, some driving from Louisville and all over the state to take part.

Burgers were on the grill and games like corn hole were in full swing outside of Kroger Stadium.

“We’ve been waiting for this since last season so we’ve got hotdogs, bratz lot’s of other food,” said Rachel Simpkins.

Despite some heavy rain earlier, tailgaters were in good spirits.

“I’m feeling pumped up! feeling great,” said Andy Ebelhar.

Ebelhar and his friends are back for their first game after graduating from UK in the spring. They have high hopes for Saturday’s game.

“Cats by 90, by 90! At least 90! That’s what we need,” said Ebelhar and friends.

No one knows for sure how the season will shape up just yet, but these fans will be watching and rooting for the Cats, and star running back Benny Snell.
