LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18)– A man was arrested Sunday morning in connection to an attempted robbery and arson.
It happened around 12:55 a.m. at the Video Max on Winchester Road .
Police say 25-year-old William Spears walked into the store and told the clerk he had a gun. He then proceeded to reach behind the counter and attempted to steal.
According to the arrest citation, the clerk was able to stop him and then proceeded to chase him through the store.
Spears allegedly went to the warehouse portion of the store and started a fire with a book and a t-shirt. The clerk was able to put it out.
When police arrived on scene, Spears attempted to flee and ignored the officer’s commands.
He is facing several charges including arson and robbery.
