LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Dozens of dogs and cats are settling into their new homes Saturday night, thanks to a free adoption event held by the Lexington Humane Society.

With the help of the Bissell Pet Foundation, the humane society put together the event at the Petsmart in Hamburg. Hundreds of animals were available for adoption, and those interested in giving them a forever home were screened by a qualified adoption specialist.

“All of the animals here available for adoption at the Lexington Humane Society have already been spayed or neutered, they’re up to date on their vaccinations, they come with a free vet visit, they come with a free grooming visit. So we have lots of different incentives to help you get started with your new family member,” said Ashley Hammond with the Lexington Humane Society.

Although the free event is over, the humane society still has some pets up for adoption at the shelter. For more information: click here.
