LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – A parade of pink on display at Kroger Field Sunday afternoon as families gathered to fight back against breast cancer.

The American Cancer Society’s “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk” is a three to five mile walk that brings people together and raises money in hopes of saving lives.

Nearly 270,000 new cases of breast cancer were estimated this year.

The money raised helps to fund innovative research, provide support, and help people reduce their breast cancer risk.

“I want to find a cure. Every year that goes by, it’s harder and harder on a survivor seeing other people going through it. I don’t want to know anyone new going through it. It’s very important that we have this research,” said breast cancer survivor Kim Risner.

LEX 18’s own Nancy Cox served as emcee for the event.
