Herro Leads All Scorers With 34 Points in Blue-White Game

Lexington, Ky (LEX 18) – The Kentucky basketball team played in front of a crowd at Rupp Arena for the first time this year in the annual Blue-White scrimmage.

Split up in to two separate teams, the game was back and forth throughout the first half. The White team made its last 9 shots of the half to take a 52-51 lead. Stanford transfer Reid Travis led all scorers with 16 points and 7 rebounds.

Teams were mixed up in the second half. The Blue team consisted of all the veterans on the team (Travis, Washington, Green, Richards, Baker) as the White team featured all of the freshmen (Johnson, Quickley, Herro, Montgomery, Hagans).

The vets took it to the freshmen out of the gate, opening the second half on a 16-2 run before closing out the game with a 104-96 win.

Freshman Tyler Herro led all scorers with 34 points. PJ Washington had 23, EJ Montgomery had 21, Quade Green had 17 and Richards and Travis each had 16 points.

Kentucky will have two exhibition games before its season opener against Duke in at the United Center in Chicago on November 6th.

1st Half

Under 16: The White team jumped out to an early 6-2 advantage before Blue went on a 9-0 run at the under 16 timeout.

Blue 11, White 6

Under 12: EJ Montgomery (White Team) showing the type of athleticism he has, attacking the rim offensively and even has a block on the other end. He and Nick Richards lead both teams with 6 points.

Blue 15, White 12

Under 8: The White team went on a 7-0 run in 47 seconds to pull within 27-25. Richards (Blue Team) leading the way for both teams with 10 pts on 5-6 shooting with 7 rebounds.

Blue 27, White 25

Under 4: Both teams are shooting over 53 percent from the field. 5 combined three-pointers. Richards and Johnson lead Blue with 12 pts each. Herro, Montgomery with 11 pts for White.

Blue 40, White 39

Halftime: The White team closes the half making its last 9 shots to take 52-51 lead. Reid Travis leads all scorers with 16 pts and 7 rebounds. Keldon Johnson has 15 pts, Tyler Herro has 13 pts, Richards has 12 pts, Montgomery and Quickley each with 11 pts. Kentucky is a combined 6-15 from beyond the arc.
