MOREHEAD, Ky. (LEX18) – A small town came together Monday evening, on what would have been Bryce Combs’ 10th birthday.
“People come back out again and show they still have respect for that situation. And they still love Bryce. And that’s what it did, it brought a community, we weren’t apart, but it’s brought a community really closer together,” Mayor Jim Tom Trent said.
Balloons were released to celebrate Bryce, who was swept away and killed in floodwaters a little over a month ago. Thousands of people spent several days, searching for miles and miles, looking for Bryce’s body.
The mayor also presented a bench to Bryce’s mother. He describes it as a place where she can come and reflect on the life shared with Bryce, while watching kids play a sport Bryce loved.
