LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) -A man has died after an accident at the UPS facility on Mercer Road.
Just before noon, Lexington Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to UPS in reference to a workplace injury.
A 43-year-old man was conducting equipment maintenance when the injury was sustained. The victim was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The Fayette County coroner says that the victim is 43-year-old Anthony T. Schanding. The press release from the coroner’s office said that the cause of death is pending autopsy results.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Clark Funeral Home of Carlisle, Kentucky.
This is the third incident that has happened at a UPS facility in Lexington this year. A propane torch set off an explosion at the UPS Freight Center on Blue Sky Parkway in May of this year. In August, at the same freight center, an independent contractor was killed in alawnmower accident.
