MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A family in Madison County is homeless after their home was destroyed in a fire late Friday night, and several firefighters were injured while responding to the scene.

Officials said the blaze broke out after 10 p.m. at home along Bob White Drive in the northern part of the county. No one was home at the time, authorities said.

The home was completely engulfed in flames by the time firefighters got to the scene, and the home is considered a complete loss.

Firefighters fought the flames for hours.

The Kirksville Volunteer Fire chief tells LEX 18 that four of his firefighters were injured when the car they were in on the way to the fire crashed in Richmond.

All four were taken to an area hospital with minor injuries and were treated and released.
