JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. (WAVE 3) – On Sunday morning, the Jeffersontown police chief addressed members of the church that officials said the Kroger shooting suspect tried to enter before the deadly shooting spree.

Chief Sam Rogers said he wanted to address the congregation as a show of support.

Rogers also commented on the attack at a Pittsburgh synagogue.

“The shooter made a statement to the witness to the effect of whites don’t kill whites. Those are fact. They happened. These two most recent examples of hate crimes are carried out by evil people,” said Chief Rogers.

Rogers said that he plans to present the case to the Commonwealth’s Attorney this week in hopes of getting it in front of a grand jury for indictment.
