(LEX 18)-  Conagra Brands is voluntarily recalling some of its Duncan Hines cake mixes due to a potential risk of salmonella after five people got sick after reportedly eating cake or batter made from the mix.

A Classic White cake mix tested positive for salmonella, and while it is not definitively linked to a salmonella outbreak the Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control are investigating, the company decided to pull it and three other varieties from shelves:

Classic White cake mix: 644209307500 UPC, Used By Dates from March 7-13, 2019
Classic Butter Golden cake mix: 644209307494 UPC, Used By Dates from March 9-13, 2019
Signature Confetti cake mix: 644209307593 UPC, Used By Dates from March 7-9, 2019
Classic Yellow cake mix: 644209414550 UPC, Used By Dates from March 12-13, 2019

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain, and can cause serious infections in children, the elderly or those with weakened immune systems.
