FRANKFORT, Ky. (LEX 18) – Hundreds of Kentucky State University students are braving the cold this weekend without heat in their dorms.
We’re told several buildings on campus haven’t had heat all week.
The university issued a release saying that faulty equipment led to the outage, forcing students to find others ways to make it through the chilly nights.
“m,y roommate actually bought a space heater, so that was the only way we could stay warm, and bundled up with blankets,” said student Kayla McCalebb.
The problems came at a bad time, with winter-like weather hitting the bluegrass over the last several days.
Fall break was supposed to start on Wednesday of next week, but the university has now cancelled classes on Monday and Tuesday as well.
Starting Saturday – students staying on campus over fall break were given the option to stay in a hotel with transportation back and forth.
The university says the replacement equipment will be here on campus Monday November 26th.
