WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Some people in Whitley County were happy to see snowfall on Sunday, though it did create some dangerous conditions.

“The beauty of it. It’s just a beautiful sight,” said Whitley County resident Richard Sadler.

Sadler says it couldn’t keep him inside. He ventured into the cold to take his dog for a walk.

But not everyone is as happy about the winter weather. Whitley County’s Emergency Management director says multiple car accidents were reported and some lost power.

LEX 18 spoke with employees at a Convenient Mart who say they lost power for hours after a tree limb came down in a nearby neighborhood.

“It just went off came back on, went off came back on and then it just went black,” said employee Barbie Spencer.

Spencer says those hours without power were pretty slow, and she was worried about driving home.

“I love snow, I really do but driving in it and getting out in it I really hate because it’s so cold,” said Spencer.

Some of the roads in the county were slick earlier in the day, though the winter weather started to calm down into the afternoon and evening hours.

EMA officials tell us they had crews out treating the roads wherever needed.
