KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Sheriff officials in Knox County arrested a man Monday evening after he allegedly fired a handgun toward a woman while four children were present and later assaulted a deputy.
The Knox County Sheriff’s Department said 23-year-old Brent Allen Hensley is facing multiple charges in the incident.
Officials said they were called out about 10:30 p.m. to a home on Emanuel Hollow Road to a report that Hensley was intoxicated and firing a handgun inside the home.
Deputies said Hensley was under the influence of alcohol and had assaulted the woman earlier the day. He allegedly told the woman “he would blow her brains out” and fired the handgun toward her as she sat on a couch holding a baby.
Deputies were able to secure the safety of the woman and children when they arrived but said Hensley initially refused to comply with police commands.
Officials said Hensley kicked a deputy who was trying to detain him and the two fell off a porch.
Hensley is charged with attempted murder, first-degree wanton endangerment, third-degree assault of a police officer, fourth-degree assault, resisting arrest, menacing and second-degree criminal mischief.
He was being held in the Knox County Detention Center on $100,000 cash bail.
