KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — A Knox County Sheriff’s deputy is facing a criminal complaint from Jackson County.

Deputy Claude Hudson has been placed on suspension from duty pending investigation. Officials have not released the nature of the complaint.

LEX 18 interviewed Hudson on two occasions recently when he avoided two near catastrophes on the job.

Hudson was shot in the line of duty in 2017. Hudson and Deputy Keith Liford were attempting to serve a warrant at an Artemus residence when officers say the suspect fired several shots at the pair. His bulletproof vest saved his life.

In 2018, he was nearly struck by lightning while responding to a call.

“The Knox Co. Sheriff’s Office received notification that a criminal complaint was filed on Deputy Claude Hudson in Jackson County, Ky., Saturday, December 30th, 2018. Kentucky State Police are investigating. Hudson was immediately suspended from duty pending this investigation,” the sheriff said in a statement.
