Remember that winter coat you haven’t had much use for lately? You’ll want it the rest of the week. Highs will crash to the low to mid 30s midweek as much colder air clamps down. Thursday morning lows will be very cold, in the mid to upper teens. Crank up the heat! The good news- it’ll still be windy today but at least those stronger gusts finally back off. Expect mostly cloudy skies with a few flurries possible Wednesday.

Speaking of snowflakes- we haven’t seen much in the way of winter weather so far, a wimpy 1.1″ of snow in Lexington since November 1st. That looks to change this weekend as our most significant shot of winter weather this season tracks our way. It will be a wet and wintry mix (mess) with highs slightly above freezing and lows below it. Accumulating snow is likely Saturday into Sunday- especially from I-64 into northern Kentucky and into our eastern mountains but amounts may be tempered by that milder air and mixed precipitation punching up from down south.
