LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Lexington police say a man is in custody after a standoff on Augusta Court. He has been sent for a mental and physical evaluation, according to police.
Police say they were called around 7:30 p.m. when someone in the area heard gunshots.
Police tell LEX 18 that it started as some type of family dispute. Officers say family members were able to get out safely while an armed man stayed inside the home.
The departments special response unit is working to negotiate with the man.
Officers say they do not believe there is an immediate threat to neighbors and they are hoping to get the man out safely.
Police are asking people to avoid driving through Augusta Ct. while they are dealing with this situation.
