NELSON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Two puppies initially rescued in Marion County will make their big TV debuts in this year’s Puppy Bowl XV that airs on Animal Planet.

Their names are Pippi and Austin, and they are currently in the care of Barktown Rescue in Nelson County.

The rescue organization says Marion County Animal Control received a call about an abandoned dog after a renter moved out of a home.

According to a release, Animal control officers noticed the dog was in distress and she led them to her three tiny puppies, including Pippi and Austin, who were almost left behind.

The dog named Olive and her three puppies were taken in by Barktown.

Pippi and Austin were chosen after auditioning for the nationally broadcast fan favorite competition.

What makes this brother and sister combo even more special is the fact that Pippi was born blind, and Austin acts as her guide dog.
