LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Lexington police are searching for the person who shot and killed a 27-year-old woman outside of a strip club on Winchester Road.

The Fayette County Coroner said 27-year-old Iesha Edwards died of a gunshot wound just before 3 a.m. at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.

Police tell LEX 18 that officers responded to The Fox Club on Winchester Road at about 2:30 a.m. for a disorder involving firearms.

Reportedly when officers arrived, several people were seen fighting in the parking lot and Edwards was found lying on the ground. Police say she was shot in the back.

“I looked at her Facebook and everyone talked real highly of this young lady. We wake up this morning to another senseless death,” said business owner Ed Gardner.

Based on their preliminary investigation, officers believe a fight between several men and women broke out inside the club, and the altercation moved outside just before the shooting.

Police say witnesses described the suspected shooter as a black man with a beard wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He has a tattoo on his right hand and on the left side of his neck.

Police found shell casings at the scene, and an unoccupied car in front of the club was hit by a bullet.
