Lexington Police Reviewing Altercation At Fayette Mall That Left One Officer Hurt

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) – Lexington police are investigating an incident that happened at Fayette Mall on Saturday night.

Lt. Muller with the Lexington Police Department says two officers were responding to the mall just before 9:00p.m. They were told there was a group of disorderly individuals there.

According to Lexington Police, while investigating, one of the officers was assaulted by a male juvenile.

Reportedly the officer suffered an injury to his face that did not require medical treatment.

Meanwhile, a video of part of the alleged incident was publicly posted to Facebook and has been shared nearly 400 times. The man who posted the video wrote that his 16-year-old son is the one involved and that the teen was punched by an officer.

“The video posted to social media does not include the entirety of what happened. We are reviewing the incident,” said Lexington Police Spokesperson Brenna Angel.
