GARRARD COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Richmond Police Department officials confirm crews are searching an area off Fall Lick Road in Garrard County in connection with the disappearance of Savannah Spurlock.
We’re told on Saturday night law enforcement officials and search and rescue groups focused on an area around a pond. That pond is not far from the home that was previously searched by investigators in the 3100 block of Fall Lick Road. Police said that home belonged to a family member of one of the men seen with Spurlock the night she went missing.
Spurlock is a 22-year-old mother of four from Richmond who disappeared on January 4th after a night out with friends in Lexington. She was last seen leaving a bar with two men.
Savannah’s mother Ellen Spurlock has said that Savannah Facetimed her after leaving the bar to let her know she’d be home in the morning. She says Savannah was in a car with several men who she believes Savannah just met that night.
Police say they questioned those men, but they all insist they had nothing to do with Spurlock’s disappearance. Police have not named any suspects.
The Cajun Coast Search and Rescue team is helping law enforcement with their search on Saturday and Sunday. Police would not tell us what lead them to search that area.
Several people who live nearby contacted LEX 18 saying that the road was blocked off by crime scene tape on Saturday night and that there was a huge police presence and a number of K-9 units involved.
We’re told crews called the search on Saturday once it got too dark, and they plan to resume their efforts on Sunday morning.
