ORMOND BEACH, Fl. (WBBH) – An overdose led the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office to the arrest of two men accused of plotting to groom and rape a three-year-old girl.

NBC affiliate WBBH-TV reports that Benjamin Worster, 39, was arrested in January on child porn charges after a woman found text messages saying Worster planned to rape her daughter.

The woman and her daughter moved into Worster’s apartment in December. Soon after moving in, the three-year-old daughter told her mother Worster had touched her.

On Dec. 17, Worster went to the hospital from an apparent overdose and the mother found his phone laying next to him. She found the text message exchange between Worster and his sexual partner, Lafe Best. They described how they would let the girl get used to seeing Worster and then rape her whether she was conscious or not.

One text from Best said, “You never know if her junkie mom can’t come up with rent one month she might just giver her to you lol wishful thinking.”

The sheriff’s office released a portion of the text exchange to “demonstrate how predators work to groom young children for sexual abuse.” The texts are extremely graphic. If you would like to read them, click here.

The state attorney’s office notified the sheriff’s office about Best’s involvement and they arrested him.

The sheriff’s office said Best, 37, was living in a home with two people who have a child 20-month-old boy. It is not believed that the boy is a victim.
