RICHMOND, Ky. (LEX 18) – A film with Kentucky ties is having its Central Ky. premiere at Eastern Kentucky University on Saturday.
The film “Donnybrook” has made the rounds at several film festivals. It is based on a book written by Frank Bill and also stars Kentucky actress Dara Tiller.
The story follows a former U.S. Marine as he trains to compete in a vicious bare-knuckle fight where the winner gets a $100,000 prize. Many scenes were filmed in the Commonwealth and the film’s protagonist is from Hazard.
Musician Tyler Childers will also play at the premiere as Bill and Childers are longtime friends and Childers agreed to play his first premiere many years ago.
The event will take place on Saturday from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the EKU Center for the Arts. There will be a book signing at the event.
