Utility Crews Work To Restore Power As Storms Cause Outages

SCOTT COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Utility crews were out in force Sunday morning as one consequence of the overnight storms has been power outages across the commonwealth.

At one point, nearly 5,000 homes were without power early Sunday morning.

Utility crews were out restoring power but gusty winds were raising fears more lines could go down.

Kentucky Utilities and LG&E were reporting more than 2,100 customers without power Sunday morning after the storms.

Meanwhile, more than 1,100 customers remained without power in the Sadieville area on Sunday morning.

And the Big Sandy RECC also was reporting about 1,400 customers without power, which is down from a high of 2,200 outages.

Many people were in the dark in Floyd County, where at one point about 2,000 customers lost power.

Crews from all the utilities were out trying to restore service but warned the winds could complicate their efforts Sunday.
