WINCHESTER, Ky. (LEX 18) — Winchester police charged a taxi driver after a woman told authorities he had held her against her will and threatened her.

Johnny Wayne Barnett

Authorities arrested 43-year-old Johnny Wayne Barnett on Sunday after an investigation.

Police said they were called out to an area on West Lexington Avenue to field the woman’s complaint. They said the woman knew the driver from previous rides with Nutter Taxi.

The owner of Nutter Taxi tells LEX 18 Barnett had worked there full-time for a year and a half and that he never had any complaints about him. The owner said he was cooperating with police.

Police were able to identify Barnett and brought him in for questioning. They said he admitted to giving the woman a letter and to grabbing her to keep her exiting the vehicle.

Barnett was charged with first-degree unlawful imprisonment.

He was being held in the Clark County Detention Center.
