MCCREARY COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Kentucky State Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed in McCreary County.

Authorities said 36-year-old Jason K. Dishman of Monticello was “shot during a confrontation” sometime before 7:00p.m. on Saturday at a home along Kentucky Highway 92 West.

Neighbor Angela Rodriguez says she was walking to her uncle’s house when she stumbled upon Dishman right after the shooting.

“I seen this feller run over the hill and he passed out like collapsed right by the road, he never did move. I walked down there to see and I noticed he had blood so I immediately called 911,” said Rodriguez.

Police say Dishman was taken to Wayne County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“I bothered me a lot last night not knowing whether he was okay or who he was to be honest with you because everybody knows everybody around here so it was scary. I worried about it all night,” said Rodriguez.

So far no arrests had been made, which Rodriguez says makes her uneasy.

“It’s a little scary cause we don’t know exactly who did it or if he’s been caught or if he is lurking around in the woods there’s plenty of wood plenty of cave plenty of room for someone to hide if they want to,” said Rodriguez.

Dishman’s body was being taken the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
