LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington police say a known serial scam artist is back on police radar after he fled during an attempted traffic stop.

“Sherman Denny was spotted outside the Country Inn and Suites on Executive Drive,” said Lexington Police Department spokeswoman Brenna Angel. “When an officer tried to make contact with him at the Thornton’s on Elkhorn, Sherman Denny fled down Winchester and onto the interstate.”

Denny is well-known and has been arrested for scamming multiple individuals.  Lexington police reported earlier this year that Denny approached a woman in a parking lot and told her he needed money for diabetes medication. He allegedly told the woman he would pay her back. Officials said the woman provided an undisclosed amount of money, while Denny provided her with a phony address and phone number.

Last August, LEX 18 reported police arrested Denny for similar attempted cons in the parking lot of St Joseph’s Office Park on Harrodsburg Road.

If you see Denny, contact Lexington police.
