LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Lexington’s new mayor, Linda Gorton, is debuting her initial budget plan Tuesday at City Hall.

It’s a new budget that could bring changes throughout the city.

Gorton has made it clear revenue growth in Lexington is slowing but fixed expenses — things the city needs to pay for — are increasing.

The mayor will go over the full budget Tuesday afternoon, but gave a preview earlier in the day.

This budget is being called a continuing budget, which means services to the people will continue. Gordon has pledge to safeguard Lexington’s high quality of life and public safety.

But the city’s spending will see changes. Gorton said this budget essentially will reset spending priorities.

“It’s the budget we have to have to keep us fiscally, financially strong going into the future,” Gorton said.

So the big question: where will cuts be made?
