WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Wayne County charged two jail inmates after a fire was set inside the lockup.

Daniel Biddle

Officials charged 28-year-old Jeffrey Webb and 29-year-old Daniel Biddle, both of Nicholasville, after an investigation.

Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron said deputies talked to inmates and reviewed surveillance video after blaze.

Authorities say Webb and Biddle started the fire by using an electronic cigarette to ignite an inmate jumpsuit and a blanket.

Jeffrey Webb

Webb and Biddle each were charged with first-degree arson and 216 counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

Both men were being held in Wayne County Detention Center.
