JESSAMINE COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) — One person is dead and four others were taken to the hospital Saturday afternoon after a head-on crash in Jessamine County.

The wreck happened around 10:30a.m. on KY-169 near the Jessamine and Woodford County line.

Jessamine County Sheriff’s Department officials say a pick-up truck and a small SUV crashed, killing one of the drivers.

The coroner reports that 28-year-old Aaron Nickerson of Williamsburg, Virginia died in the crash. The coroner says that he was an Asbury Seminary student.

Reportedly four others were taken to the hospital with what were considered serious injuries.

The Abury Theological Seminary posted on their Facebook page that two of the others hurt were also seminary students.

A vigil took place on Saturday evening on campus.

Students and faculty say it’s especially tough losing a classmate right before Easter, but it’s also the holiday that gives them hope.

“We draw a lot of strength from the lord as we prepare for Easter that death doesn’t have the final answer, that there’s life after life,” said Nicole Sims.

Clear Creek and Keene-Versailles road were shut down in the area as crews worked to reconstruct the crash.

The roads reopened late Saturday afternoon.
