Garrard County police said officers were called out around 3:10 a.m. to a property in the 100 block of Old Lexington Road.

Authorities arrested Joseph Bickett and Dale Parker, who officials said are related. Police said the pair broke into the building through the roof.

The property owner “retreated to his bedroom” and shot Paker, of Danville, as he entered the room. Parker was wounded in the shoulder, police said.

According to authorities, responding officer Allen Weston saw Bickett fleeing the scene and apprehended him after a short foot chase.

Weston then arrested Parker, of Danville. Parker was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center, where he was treated and released back into custody.

Parker was charged with first-degree burglary, criminal trespassing, terroristic threatening and menacing.

Bickett was charged with second-degree burglary and criminal trespassing.
