LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Police in Lexington after someone fired shots into a home with people inside early Monday morning on the city’s north side.

Authorities say the gunfire erupted just after 1 a.m. in the 400 block of Michigan Street near Newtown Pike.

No one was injured in the case, police say. Officers were able to recover several shell casings, but no arrests have been made.

The latest gunfire comes amid a spate of shootings in the city.

This latest incident mirrors a deadly shooting last Tuesday in the Masterson Station neighborhood when a man was shot through the back door of a home.

Then Friday, a man and women were found shot to death in a car on Race Street in the East End neighborhood.

Despite the recent violence, police say the city’s overall crime rate is down. A website that ranks cities’ crime rates recently placed Lexington as the third safest city in America.
