Police: Man Abuducted Juvenile At Gunpoint From Louisville Kroger, Threatened Witnesses

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – Police in Louisville arrested a man who they say abducted a juvenile Tuesday afternoon at gunpoint from a Kroger as witnesses tried to intervene.

WAVE reports that 58-year-old Fabao Chen was being held after the incident.

According to an arrest citation, Chen was at the Kroger at Broadway and 27th Street when he grabbed the juvenile.

Police said that’s when witnesses tried to intervene, Chen pulled a gun from his pants, pointed it at onlookers and held it to the juvenile’s head as he got away.

Authorities said Chen took the child to Double Dragon, 3600 W. Broadway. Police say a crowd gathered and Chen again allegedly pointed a weapon at people in the crowd.

Police eventually were able to arrest Chen. Information about the juvenile’s condition was not immediately disclosed.

Chen was charged with kidnapping of a minor and three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment.

He was being held on $200,000 cash bail at the Louisville Metro Detention Center.
