Knox County Troopers Arrest Man For Burglary, Find Newborn Fawn Inside His Car

KNOX COUNTY, Ky. (LEX 18) – Kentucky State Police troopers say a burglary arrest in Knox County lead to an unusual discovery.

Reportedly around 9:00p.m. on Saturday troopers were called about a burglary on KY-1530 just outside of Barbourville.

Through their investigation, troopers arrested 45-year-old Samuel Owens of Bailey Hollow.

Investigators believe Owens broke into two homes and three buildings along KY-1530.

Troopers reportedly were in the process of recovering stolen items from his car, when they discovered a newborn fawn inside of the vehicle.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife was called at that time.

Troopers were able to return most of the stolen items back to their rightful owners, but they are trying to find the person who owns two cattle gates that were recovered.

Owens was charged with DUI, no license, no registration, no insurance, two counts of 2nd degree burglary, two counts of 3rd degree burglary, two counts of criminal mischief 2nd degree, two counts criminal mischief 3rd degree, possession of alcohol in vehicle, illegal possession of legend drug, prescription not in proper container, holding of wildlife without permit, theft of mail matter and theft over $500.00.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information should call state police.
