(LEX 18) — On Friday, Amy McGrath announced that she filed to run for U.S. Senate.
McGrath announced this on Twitter hours after Democrat Mike Broihier announced that he filed to run.
Honored to have Martha Layne Collins, the first and only woman governor of Kentucky, and my mom, one of the first women to graduate from UK med school, to sign my papers as I filed to run for Senate.

McGrath had Martha Layne Collins, the only woman governor for Kentucky, and her mother, who was one of the first women to graduate from the University of Kentucky Medical School, there as she filed to run.
McGrath also ran against Andy Barr for the 6th District seat in Congress in 2018.
