LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Ariana Grande announced on her Instagram just hours before she was supposed to take the stage at Rupp Arena, that her concert planned for Sunday night was canceled.

Grande mentioned on her social media pages on Saturday that she may need to cancel due to a sickness that she's battling.

In the video on her Instagram, she apologized and let fans know that they would be refunded.

"Thank you for understanding and sending love ..." Grande said.

LEX 18 spokes to fans who had already driven hours to Lexington when they heard the news.

"I was nervous last night, because she was telling everyone she was sick, but I still had my hopes up. But my dreams were crushed today," said Angela Young.

Several fans told LEX 18 they had booked hotel rooms that couldn't be refunded.

Downtown businesses were also preparing for extra crowds.

"Extra prep, extra dough, we make the dough fresh here. We were going to bring in a couple extra people, but obviously this kinda halted it. But tomorrow we have a sale going, so we're just going to plan for that," said Goodfella's Pizza Assistant Manager Alexander Nartowicz.

Instead of celebrating Sunday night, fans had plenty of tears left to cry.

If you bought tickets to the show through Ticketmaster, refunds will automatically be refunded to credit card of the original purchaser.
