LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — Since this weekend there have been at least 11 shootings in Lexington.
On Wednesday, February 12, a shooting was reported on Mirror Lake Drive near the intersection of Man O' War and Buckhorn Drive.
Police say officers in the area saw a black vehicle leaving the scene. We're told officers tried to catch it but were unable to do so. That vehicle was found wrecked at the intersection of Man O' War and Rapid Run Drive a short time later. Police say no one was injured, and two people are now in custody.
Then at about 2:30 AM, there was a report of another shooting, this time at a house on the 500 block of Georgetown Street. Police say they found dozens of shell casings, but no one was injured. Currently, no one is in custody.
Police say both of these places had shootings on Monday as well.
On Monday, February 10, a 15-year-old boy, named Antwan Roberts was shot while inside of his home on Nancy Hanks Road. He died the next day at the hospital. Police say he was an innocent bystander and was likely asleep when he was shot.
LEX18 spoke to Anita Franklin, who lost her son in 2014 to an act of gun violence. He too was an innocent bystander.
"It's really sad, a mother to lose her child... he was innocent and doesn't deserve to die," Franklin said.
