LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) — A donation drive is going on to help people in the Bahamas who are still recovering from Hurricane Dorian.
There also will be a Bluegrass for the Bahamas fundraiser taking place on Wednesday night.
bdG Sports is behind this fundraising effort.
For the last several years they have worked in the Bahamas on a golf tournament. Seeing the devastating effects of hurricane Dorian on two of the islands, bdG founder and CEO Brooks Downing said he knew they had to do something more to help in the recovery.
A truck will be set up at the Shoppes at Landsdowne from 11 am to 2 pm, and 4 pm to 7 pm every day through Sunday. They’re accepting donations like cleaning supplies, diapers and baby formula, first aid supplies, clothing and more.
On Wednesday night a Bluegrass for the Bahamas fundraiser is being held at Malone’s Prime from 7:00 to 10:00p.m. Tickets are $100 and that includes food and drinks, and there will be live and silent auctions.
Tickets can be purchased at the door or ahead of time online.
